It's been a while, hasn't it. I've thought of you often little neglected blog (and blog readers). Here are a few things that has happened since January:

  • I had a birthday...yeah that happens every February. It was lovely. I received some lovely presents, one of which are the most beautiful hand knit socks from my best bud over in the UK.
  • Spring has sprung here in Vancouver. It's pretty sweet. You know it's spring when all the cherry blossoms come out (and there are LOTS).
  • Lots of my lady friends have had babies! So many little baby boys around, it's the best.
  • Working on a very exciting project over at the Silk Weaving Studio, which we will be announcing very soon.
  • Started my pieces for the Collections exhibition that is happening in June, in which I am collaborating with this lovely lady. I've been such a big fan of her work for a long time now and am so excited to see our pieces together. More details on the show to come.

And...well...I am making something else. Probably the most difficult thing I've ever made...a baby. Yes, I am expecting, due this summer. We are so excited. After feeling very sick for the first while, I'm happy to report that I'm feeling good these days.

So there you go, you're up to date. I will do my best to update this space a little more often.

The ladies from the studio and I are plugging along on our plans and designs for the market next week. Wow, where did October go?

We're very excited about the market and can't wait for you to see our booth and our work, some of which is new new stuff that you haven't seen in the shop. We hope you'll come visit...oh and by the way, we'll be handing out coupons for 10% off our handwoven items in the shop.

Other things I've been doing:
  • stomping in the rain with my new boots.
  • weaving
  • visiting with friends and eating delicious things
  • planning my new projects
  • also preparing some work for the annual Capilano Student Sale on November 20 (more on that later)
  • watching Downton Abbey (oy did I cry!)

Ok, well, I'm off to prep another warp and weave.

PS the pics are of the scarves that were pictured wet in a previous post...I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I love the effect of playing with different thickness and types of yarns.

I would really like this to be my last move...I know it's not but really. This time around it felt like way more work and we moved into a smaller place so it's taking some creativity to get things to fit. We still have boxes around of course but we've put a big dent in the pile.

Some exciting things happening this fall that I am in planning mode for. Also this month I'm going on an Alaskan cruise for a week. It's a kind of family cruise thing with my husband's family. I've never been on a cruise and I'm not sure that I would ever just book one on my own but I'm excited about this. Mostly cause we're also taking a helicopter trip to a glacier! Whee!

Tomorrow is Friday! Haps for the weekend.

I'm currently in the middle of packing and sorting, we're moving next week and there is so much to do. I decided that with this move that I would not move anything that I didn't want to keep so that means hours of sorting, donating, recycling, etc... It's a bit overwhelming but yesterday for the first time I actually felt like I was getting somewhere...yay me!

I've had to put current projects on hold until the move but I hope to get back at it as soon as we're all settled.

Can you believe that July is almost over? Yikes.

I really love plants and flowers but alas I am not of the gifted when it comes to growing. I try.

We received a few lovely plants as wedding gifts, they are so lovely. I really hope they stay around because I really like having them in our front window.

I'll be weaving all day today. It's raining again in Vancouver. We really haven't had much of a summer yet but there is a rumour that it may start to get nice this week! I sure hope so, I'm still wearing layers.

Happy Monday Dears.

Do you know about Smitten Kitchen? You probably do...it is only the BEST cooking blog on these here internets. EVERYTHING that I've made from her recipes has always been delicious. It's amazing. Well it's amazing until you find out that she tests her recipes over and over again until they are perfect...I love it! Thank you Smitten Kitchen.

Above is something I made yesterday from her blog called Strawberry Summer Cake...we served it up with some freshly whipped cream and oh man, it was delicious!

In other news, I was happy to hear that one of my etsy treasury lists made it to the front page this morning...I love it when that happens!

Wow it's  been a while...does anyone even visit here anymore? According to analytics you do...my apologies for not updating lately. In my defense, I have had a lot going on.

One of the things I've been up to is...I got married! I had a super romantic wedding and married an awesome man. I feel really lucky.

Now that things are starting to settle down, I'm going to get back to work full blast. I have some new ideas that I've been working out and can't wait to make it happen. Basically it will be a new collection of wovens and other textile delights for Fall. In the meantime, I still have some Spring/Summer things available through my etsy shop so please visit and take a look.

And lastly, thank you lovely readers for continuing to visit. I will try my hardest to actually make it worth your while.

I administer two pages on Facebook...one for Ana Isabel Textiles and the other for the Silk Weaving Studio--as many of you know, I work at the Silk Weaving Studio 3-4 days a week. It's a wonderful place full of beautiful textiles and yarn. I feel really lucky to be a part of it especially since there are so many rad textile ladies who work there. I get to weave on some crazy looms and work on patterns that I wouldn't have the opportunity to work with on my own. All that, and I get to work with the most amazing material: silk!

So, please like both pages on Facebook. And of course if you are in Vancouver, come by the Silk Weaving Studio on Granville Island and see what we're up to!

I had a very quiet bday filled with tea parties, weaving, pasta, tulips and the best carrot cupcakes with cream cheese icing! It was perfect.

Working away on some new ideas...again, yes. I know, I keep saying that but really, it's the truth. The last ideas I tried and probably mentioned here didn't work out exactly how I wanted. The result was pretty but not what I wanted...so I move on.

I've been wanting to do some graphic weaves for a while so that's what I'll be experimenting with over the next while. Weaving shapes, printing shapes on weavings, weaving over printed shapes...you get the idea.

Like everyone else, I'm kinda obsessed with pinterest. I feel guilty sometimes about the amount of time I spend on there...so many pretty things to see! Inspiration overload. I've even started a board for my upcoming nuptials. So fun.

Happy weekending.
