I administer two pages on Facebook...one for Ana Isabel Textiles and the other for the Silk Weaving Studio--as many of you know, I work at the Silk Weaving Studio 3-4 days a week. It's a wonderful place full of beautiful textiles and yarn. I feel really lucky to be a part of it especially since there are so many rad textile ladies who work there. I get to weave on some crazy looms and work on patterns that I wouldn't have the opportunity to work with on my own. All that, and I get to work with the most amazing material: silk!

So, please like both pages on Facebook. And of course if you are in Vancouver, come by the Silk Weaving Studio on Granville Island and see what we're up to!

How did that happen? It's only been summer in Vancouver for about 3-weeks. It's still sunny here but it's cooler especially at night. No complaints from me though--I love the fall.

I wrote a while back that I was looking for a job, and I found one. I found two actually and start both this week. I'm looking forward to them both actually and can't wait to get started. I really think that this will send me working in a new direction creatively and I can move away from producing wearables (which I will still do occasionally) and try to work on my other projects that are more time consuming.

Speaking of new work, I have started collecting feathers for some new things I have been planning. I have mentioned this to lots of people that I know because I want LOTS of feathers. I want them only to be collected from nature (not ordered online). I'm taking any type of feather but I have an immediate need for white or light feathers.

A friend of mine sent me a link to Kate MccGwire's website. I really love her feather sculptures (pictured above), so interesting and beautiful!

Happy September lovely readers

working away on various things...some projects that I've been thinking about for a while. Experimenting with natural dyeing a la India Flint, inspired by her book Eco Colour.

I have my shop full with various woven and dyed goodies, so please hop over and take a look.

I have a weekend full of dinners with friends and family. How wonderful. The weather in Vancouver has been amazing and warm. Vancouver is in it's full beautiful glory.

Be back soon dear readers.

I'm sure I don't need to tell how amazing Jillian Tamaki is...check out this project she's working on...holy smokes that's so good. Yes, friends, she is embroidering covers for classic novels for Pengiun.

In other news, I'm running all around town today dropping off orders and work. You'll be able to find some of my pieces in Kerrisdale at The Velvet Room...I'm super excited about having my work in this store--it's full of such pretty things and mostly made by independent designers. Love.

It's finally warm and sunny in Vancouver...yay!

I'm a little behind on the Black Swan love since it was released while we were in India (and there was no mention of it really)...I ended up watching the movie on the plan ride back to Vancouver. I really loved the film but the costumes were so fantastic (brilliant Rodarte!) And of course those beautiful posters...I can't even begin to describe how much I like them. So, this is a little post about how hard I'm crushing on all things Black Swan.

I've been completely obsessed with the Vogue Italia archives...every chance I get, I take a break from unpacking and setting up the studio to check out more photography. I love how each photograph is a work of art...not just about the clothes but more about the feeling of the overall.

More studio set ups to do...

I've often written about how inspiring Vancouver is. We have mountains, ocean, lots of trees but also mixed in with some urbanity too. I think it's the perfect mix and like others who create, I look to my surroundings to inspire my work.

A couple of pics from the last couple of days. Both taken from the apartment we're staying at this week (before we move into our new place).

I haven't been able to work on anything textile related as of yet...just waiting on a move that also includes another home studio (yay!). I've been sketching and planning and such but I'm itchin' to get going. I miss weaving, dyeing and all the fun stuff that comes along with working with textiles.

Anyway I was just looking through some old pics and found some nice ones of some natural dyeing with tumeric that was done while I was in school.

Hope it's sunny where you are, it's super sunny here in Vancouver!
