It's been a while, hasn't it? Yeah. I have thought of updating but just hadn't been able to get it together to be able to do so.
Truth is I've been struggling with keeping focused and being clear with what I want to do and where I want to go with my work. I've basically come up with two things...first, I want to really just do one off pieces. This season's collection taught me that. As things sold and I had to make more, I just really got bored of making the same things. Two, I really want to focus on participating in group shows and exhibitions...again this leads me to one off pieces.
So, over the next little while, I will re-focus and plan for this new realization. What that also means is that I will have to get a job outside of my own biz...so I have started to get that going as well.
This is part of why I haven't updated this space...I hesitate on sharing this much but then I thought, why not? I think it's important to re-evaluate and plan out new approaches to artistic work and really define what works best for me....and to share that struggle. Cause as a good friend of mine always says, no one can decide what's best for you, only you.
On another note, from August to October you will be able to find my work over at City Scape Gallery in North Vancouver. I have some hand dyed silk gauze scarves with a little leather tie as well as a woven linen scarf available for sale. I continue my use of natural dyes and fibres. I'm enjoying that exploration.
