A little sneak peek of mine (sorry about the darkish picture).
xo
I've been busy working away on a bunch of new work including some pieces for the upcoming show "Collections" over at the Silk Weaving Studio. As I mentioned I'm collaborating with Claire from Heyday Design who does such beautiful porcelain pieces. I can't wait to see our pieces interact with each other. A little sneak peek of mine (sorry about the darkish picture). Weaving is getting more and more difficult with my bulging baby belly...I'm much slower too. I guess this is a bit of training for when the baby comes because things are going to slow WAY down. xo Add Comment It's been a while, hasn't it. I've thought of you often little neglected blog (and blog readers). Here are a few things that has happened since January:
And...well...I am making something else. Probably the most difficult thing I've ever made...a baby. Yes, I am expecting, due this summer. We are so excited. After feeling very sick for the first while, I'm happy to report that I'm feeling good these days. So there you go, you're up to date. I will do my best to update this space a little more often. xo Leave it to me to wait until almost the end of January to actually wish you a happy new year. Sorry about that. I do hope that 2013 is off to a great start for you dear readers. I've just been plugging away on things...I haven't been feeling my best so that's put me behind in my plans but I hope to soon be back to my regular schedule of weaving things weekly. These latest pics are a series of 5 that I wove in December just before the holiday. Two of which went to my parents (they always get scarves :) and the rest are for sale over at the Silk Weaving Studio on Granville Island. xo a And before I knew it, it's December and almost Christmas. Things I've been up to:
I hope you all are having a good December and I wish you a happy and safe holiday. xo I'm really excited that some of my work is available at The Cross in Yaletown. I love love love that store. It's so beautifully curated and I always add like 10 things to my wish list. There are 9 pieces available there. These won't be available anywhere else so they are special. Go visit this lovely store! Now, on to another series. I'm working on some patterned pieces at the moment...I'm just in the middle of preparing the warp and making some last minute design changes. I will show you soon! xo Working away on new things-this is part of an order for a local store. I'm short on time right now, I will write more soon! xo I've been super busy weaving and dyeing lately...I'm not complaining, I really love it. I've said this many times, but I really do feel lucky to be able to just do this for a living. And I love it when I'm busy, cause that means something's happening...and I like that too. That only made a little bit of sense... In my defense, I just inhaled fumes from cleaning the bath tub. So Circle Craft ended this past Sunday. We really had a lot of fun hanging out in our booth, weaving and chatting with customers. Right now I'm working on two things: One, just finishing up some stuff for the Capilano University Student & Alumni sale, this upcoming Tuesday up at Capilano University. I think this is one of the best textile sales of the year. There is such a mix of things...I've picked up some goodies in the past. This year I am participating as an alumni. I have lots of goodies ready to go including, naturally dyed silk scarves, some wovens in linen, silk and wool, and some other fun stuff I've been playing with. I love participating in this sale because I feel a real freedom creating for it. Two: I'm working on a couple of series that will be available at a very cool and lovely local store here in Vancouver. This is one of my favourite stores so I'm really excited to be making some special wovens for them. And there it is, what I've been working on. Happy week everyone. xo ps the pic is my very first weaving I completed in textile art school. It is a sampler. I have it hanging on our wall. The ladies from the studio and I are plugging along on our plans and designs for the market next week. Wow, where did October go? We're very excited about the market and can't wait for you to see our booth and our work, some of which is new new stuff that you haven't seen in the shop. We hope you'll come visit...oh and by the way, we'll be handing out coupons for 10% off our handwoven items in the shop. Other things I've been doing:
Ok, well, I'm off to prep another warp and weave. xo PS the pics are of the scarves that were pictured wet in a previous post...I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I love the effect of playing with different thickness and types of yarns. I like doing this in list form, so here goes:
There's more, but I can't remember despite my note taking of the days activities (do you do that? I still have a hand written agenda where I write appointments and things that I've done (and have to do)). Anyway, as stated above, I will be at the Circle Craft Christmas Market from Nov 7-11 with the rest of the crew from the Silk Weaving Studio. Come check it out, there will be tons of great vendors there plus we'll be weaving on our booth! Fun times. Thanks for reading dear friends, xo My last post I wrote about all the weaving I've been doing...I wasn't kidding, here are some pics. Most of the above is silk/merino with the exception of the bottom one which is silk and soy. All feel great on. These are just a few pieces, there are more...if you're interested, they are available over at the Silk Weaving Studio...come visit :) Back to finish making dins. xo |
